A replacement has been made for Stanislav Nedkov at UFC 142 next month, as promotional newcomer Caio Magalhaes makes his debut against Fabio Maldonado.
The news was revealed by the promotion today.
Brazilian “Hellboy” Caio Magalhaes (5-0-0) has been a professional mixed martial artist for just over two years; making his debut at Shooto - Brazil 13, defeating Maurilio de Souza in the third round by Omaplata.
He has since gone on to defeat Paulo Henrique Garcia Rodrigues, Otavio Lacerdo, Messias Pai de Santo and Ismail de Jesus. Two of his fights have gone the full, allotted time, with him winning both by split decision.
Maldonado’s original opponent, Stanislav Nedkov failed to gain a visa in time for the fight.
UFC 142 takes place at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on January 14th. The headlining fight sees featherweight champion Jose Aldo taking on a tough challenge in Chad Mendes.
