The ARK Omoplata is an option for finishing an oponent when he counters the ARK Triangle.
Moves 1 & 2

For a detailed breakdown of these steps, please see the ARK triangle by clicking here.
Move 3.
Notice how Gennady is blocking my lead leg.
Option 1:
I can finish the triangle by extending my leg further and lifting it above the reach of his arm.  If I choose this option I can place my head to the mat beside Gennady’s left hip to help with balance and to allow me to lift my leg higher.
Option 2:
I keep a tight hold on Gennady’s arm by pulling his elbow towards me and pincering his left bicep with my leg.  I also shift my weight from the side of my right thigh to my butt, as if I am trying to sit on the mat.
Move 4.
I slide off Gennady (stay close) and fall to the mat.  Please note, I am posting with my left arm for demonstration purposes only – you should try to land with your weight slightly forward.  Notice, the hand that was holding Gennady’s elbow slides over his hips to stop him from rolling.  I am also keeping his arm tightly pinched between my tigh and leg, as well as putting pressure on his shoulder with my outer shin and knee.
Move 5.
I come up into the Omoplata.  The benefit of this set up is that your opponent will usually be lying flat out on the ground, making it easy to finish.  If he does manage to come up onto hands and knees however, just move your butt out (away from his body) to flatten him out again.
Next time!  ARK escapes!
